HEALTH REFORM IS A GOOD DEAL FOR SENIORS

WASHINGTON – Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA), Chair of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, responded to the AARP endorsement of the Affordable Health Care for America Act, and a letter from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) confirming that the House health reform bill would extend the Medicare Trust Fund by five years.

Rep. Stark: "AARP and the Chief Actuary for CMS confirmed that the Affordable Health Care for America Act is a win for seniors.  Our bill closes the Part D 'donut hole,' eliminates cost sharing for preventive coverage, and improves access for low-income seniors and people with disabilities. The Republican substitute does nothing to improve seniors' health coverage."
